Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed Tuesday that Ukrainian drone strikes killed or seriously wounded more than 30,000 Russian troops in July.
In his nightly address, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces inflicted 30,272 casualties through drone operations during the month, citing military data backed by video evidence.
“During this July, all our units on the front destroyed 30,272 Russians precisely with drones. These are the eliminated and seriously wounded,” he said.
The figures could not be independently verified, and Russia had yet to comment on the claim.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine remained in daily contact with US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as efforts to revive peace negotiations continued.
He said Kyiv was open to any format of talks and expected the two US officials to take a more active role in diplomatic efforts later this month.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine was also coordinating with international partners, particularly Gulf countries, to support its diplomatic initiatives and address its security needs.
Russia and Ukraine last held three rounds of US-mediated peace talks in January and February in an effort to negotiate an end to the war, now in its fifth year.
The negotiations have since stalled, with both Moscow and Kyiv attributing the pause to Washington’s focus on Iran and the conflict in the Middle East.
