TWO-TIME PBA champion and two-time finals MVP Mikey Williams made a rare appearance courtside during TNT’s game against Barangay Ginebra on Friday, sparking speculation that his return to the PBA may not be as far off.
But don’t get your hopes high as TNT manager Jojo Lastimosa said there have been no talks yet about William’s return.
Williams was last seen playing for TNT during the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals in April 2023.
He was present at the Philsports Arena for the first time since his team’s championship-clinching victory against Ginebra.
That night, Williams was named Finals MVP for the second time in his career. However, his relationship with the Tropang Giga went south following the season. And his contract wasn’t renewed.
Now in the country to play for Strong Group Athletics in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, Williams said he would like to rejoin the Tropang Giga if given the chance.
“It’s very heartfelt, I want to be out there with them, but there are some things that need to be addressed,” Williams was quoted as saying. “I definitely miss them; I wish I could compete with them.”
While TNT still holds his signing rights, Williams made it clear that the Tropang Giga is the team he wants to play for.
“I always want to be with TNT, no question. For the last couple of years, I’ve called this my home. I definitely miss my teammates, built rapport, brotherhood with these guys,” he said.
