The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has approved an increase in the minimum wages of private sector workers and domestic helpers in the SOCCSKSARGEN region.
Under Wage Order No. XII-26, the daily minimum wage for workers in the non-agriculture, retail, and service sectors will increase to Php 476 under the first tranche and Php 501 under the second tranche.
Meanwhile, minimum wage earners in the agriculture sector will receive Php 459 per day following the first tranche of the adjustment, with the rate rising to Php 484 under the second tranche.
Domestic workers, or kasambahay, will also benefit from a wage increase under Wage Order No. XII-DW-06, which sets their new monthly minimum wage at Php 6,450.
The wage adjustments are intended to provide additional financial relief to minimum wage earners amid the rising cost of basic goods and services.
The new wage orders will take effect 15 days after their publication, in accordance with existing wage regulations.
The adjustments will cover eligible workers in SOCCSKSARGEN, which comprises South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City.
The implementation dates for the respective tranches of the private sector wage increase were not specified in the announcement.
