Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), the country’s largest public transport operator, reported solid operational gains for 2025 during its annual stockholders’ meeting on December 6, where it also elected its 2026 board and corporate officers and disclosed a recent Supreme Court decision involving a former director.
During the meeting, the board informed stockholders of the Supreme Court En Banc’s ruling declaring former VTI director Ricardo V. Yanson Jr. a fugitive from justice in connection with a pending grave coercion case. The Court held that he had willfully evaded jurisdiction by refusing to appear before the Regional Trial Court, and therefore could not seek judicial relief—leading to the dismissal of his petitions.
“We welcome the clarity provided by the Supreme Court,” said VTI chairman and CEO Leo Rey Yanson. “The ruling reinforces a simple truth: no one is above the law. Courts cannot be used as shields by those who refuse to face legitimate legal processes.”
Yanson emphasized that VTI remains fully focused on its mandate to serve the riding public, strengthening operations, modernizing its fleet, and ensuring dependable and safe transport services nationwide.
Treasurer and corporate secretary Olivia V. Yanson underscored the company’s resilience amid challenges. “This decision affirms what we have long stood for—order, accountability, and respect for our institutions. VTI remains united and committed to our employees, our partners, and the millions of commuters we serve.”
Stockholders elected the following individuals to the 2026 board: Olivia V. Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, Ginnette Y. Dumancas, Charles M. Dumancas, Anita G. Chua, Arvin John V. Villaruel, and Daniel Nicolas P. Golez.
Following the election, the board reaffirmed Leo Rey Yanson as chairman and CEO and Olivia V. Yanson as treasurer and corporate secretary.
VTI also unveiled its 2026 modernization roadmap, which includes large-scale fleet renewal, expanded digital integration, enhanced customer experience initiatives, and greater nationwide connectivity.
“As we move into 2026, we are accelerating modernization across our entire network,” said Yanson. “We are building a future-ready transport system that represents the best of Filipino service.”
