President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday called on Filipinos to reflect on compassion, humility, and service as the nation marked the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In a message released by Malacañang, Marcos said the celebration invites the country “to reflect as a people,” noting that the life of the Blessed Virgin serves as a reminder of purity of intention, devotion, and unwavering faith.
“We turn our gaze to Mary, whose life began entirely in God’s favor,” the President said, stressing that her example calls the faithful to a journey of integrity and service rooted in God’s will.
Marcos said the Immaculate Conception highlights the importance of beginning with “pure intentions,” and carrying out actions aligned with truth and good purpose for the nation.
“If we move with truth, humility, and concern for those whom we must serve, we can build a more peaceful and prosperous Filipino nation,” he said.
He encouraged Filipinos to emulate Mary’s virtues, saying her life teaches the country to resist distractions, selfishness, and division.
“Let us allow strength from her life to see our role in building a nation that places God at its center and upholds the dignity of every Filipino,” he said.
The President called for unity as the nation celebrates the holy day, urging the faithful to seek guidance and clarity in their personal and collective journeys.
Marcos ended his message by wishing the public “a solemn and meaningful celebration of the Immaculate Conception.”
