The number of people killed by two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela in June had risen to 4,829, a senior government official said Wednesday.
National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez released updated figures showing that 16,740 people had also been injured in the disaster.
Authorities had provided assistance to 128,324 families affected by the earthquakes, according to data shared by Rodriguez on social media platform X.
The government had also opened 106 temporary shelters accommodating 20,857 displaced residents.
Despite the relief efforts, 17,907 people remained without permanent homes weeks after the tremors struck.
Damage assessments showed that 856 buildings had been affected across the country.
Of the damaged structures, 190 had completely collapsed, further complicating rescue, recovery and housing operations.
The earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, hit the South American country in quick succession on June 24.
