In a major move to support sustainable business operations and fuel economic growth, Vantage Energy, the retail electricity supplier (RES) affiliated with Manuel V. Pangilinan’s Meralco, has signed a new deal to energize 35 key properties under the Gokongwei Group across the Philippines.
The newly inked Retail Electricity Supply Agreement (RESA) will provide power to assets under Robinsons Land Corporation, Robinsons Supermarket Corporation, and Universal Robina Corporation (URC)—flagship companies under the umbrella of JG Summit Holdings, Inc.
This strategic partnership is more than just a power deal. A portion of the energy supplied by Vantage will come from renewable sources, advancing the Gokongwei Group’s sustainability goals.
“This commitment to renewable energy empowers the Gokongwei Group to wholeheartedly pursue our sustainability targets, knowing that we have strong, forward-thinking partners aligned with our environmental stewardship goals,” said Lance Y. Gokongwei, President and CEO of JG Summit, during the ceremonial signing.
Vantage Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Meralco, provides reliable and competitively priced electricity to large “contestable” customers outside the typical Meralco franchise zone. The long-standing collaboration between Vantage and the Gokongwei Group now enters a new chapter, with more sites shifting to green power.
“Our partnership spans over half a decade now, with new contestable properties recently added—some of which are already transitioning to renewable energy,” said Ernesto M. Cabral, President of Vantage Energy. “This expansion reflects our aligned commitment to transforming shared values into meaningful, measurable progress toward a sustainable future.”
But the impact doesn’t stop at energy delivery. Vantage Energy also supports Filipino communities through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, strengthening its role as a responsible and impactful energy provider.
As the Gokongwei Group continues to evolve its real estate, retail, and food and beverage operations, this partnership signals a growing momentum in the Philippine business sector’s shift toward cleaner, smarter energy solutions.
