Petro Gazz eclipsed Chery Tiggo on Tuesday in the PVL All-Filipino at the Philsports Arena.
“Everyone contributed with great energy,” said Van Sickle. “We had a rough start, but we figured it out, got through the tough spots, and came together as a team.”
That is after a gutsy 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7 comeback victory.
The Angels were on the brink of being swept, down 18-10 in Set 3, but they turned the tide with a fiery 7-1 rally to steal the set and keep their hopes alive.
Sickle decided to take charge, not just by piling up points but by helping her teammates to step up.
The triumph was the Angels’ first five-setter of the conference, upping their record to league-best 5-1, and extending their winning streak to five.
Myla Pablo led the charge with 18 points, 15 of those coming from attacks, along with three blocks.
Though Van Sickle didn’t start for the first time this conference, she delivered three aces in the fourth set and seven crucial points in the fifth, finishing with a double-double of 10 points and 11 digs.
Petro Gazz’s deep roster showed its value, with all 14 active players seeing action in the thrilling win.
Chery Tiggo was led by Cza Carandang’s 13 points, while Pauline Gaston added 12 and setter Jasmine Nabor finished with 10.
