Federal Agents Arrest 81 in Charlotte Immigration Sweep

Federal authorities arrested at least 81 individuals in Charlotte, North Carolina over the weekend, officials said Sunday, marking a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s deportation efforts.

Gregory Bovino, a senior U.S. Border Patrol commander who previously led crackdowns in Los Angeles and Chicago, said the arrests took place within about five hours on Saturday, the first day agents operated in Charlotte.

“Many of those arrested had significant criminal and immigration history,” Bovino wrote on social media, highlighting the focus on individuals with prior offenses.
