UnionBank of the Philippines reaffirmed its leadership in digital transformation at DigiCon 2025, the country’s premier technology and marketing conference organized by the Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP). The event gathered innovators, business leaders, and marketers to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies are reshaping the future of industries and human experiences.

Reflecting this year’s theme, “The Age of I: The Power of Personalization,” UnionBank presented a deeper, more empathetic vision for AI—one that places people at the center of technology. The Bank emphasized that AI should not only enhance efficiency but also foster understanding, connection, and trust in every digital interaction.

During the Immersive Track, UnionBank Digital Experience and Development Head Rene Aguirre shared the story of Nina, a customer whose banking journey—from account opening to credit management—is powered by AI. “Digital transformation isn’t just about technology—it’s about people,” Aguirre said. “Each AI model we design seeks to understand human behavior and create experiences that feel intuitive, personal, and truly meaningful.”

UnionBank’s AI solutions—such as RIA, its AI-powered customer service assistant, and the Wealth RM Assistant—have redefined customer engagement and operational excellence. These innovations illustrate the Bank’s goal of using technology not as a replacement for human service, but as a partner that enhances empathy and intelligence across every touchpoint.

At the Integrated Track, Chief Human Resource Officer and CSR Head Michelle Rubio joined the panel “The New Work Order: Of Culture, Tech, and Agile Workplaces,” where she highlighted UnionBank’s human-centered approach to employee transformation. “At UnionBank, we democratize learning,” Rubio explained. “You might start in HR, but you can develop expertise in blockchain, AI, data science, or digital innovation. We’re building a workforce that’s adaptive, multi-skilled, and future-ready.”

UnionBank’s AI philosophy is built on two core pillars: Automated Intelligence, which drives seamless digital experiences for customers, and Assisted Intelligence, which empowers employees to deliver smarter, more compassionate service. This balance ensures that technology uplifts both people and performance.

With over 80 active AI models integrated across its operations, UnionBank continues to pioneer next-generation “phygital” banking—blending physical and digital experiences to meet customers wherever they are. As Aguirre concluded, “AI’s real value is in making banking more human. In the Age of I, innovation must come with intention—and at UnionBank, that intention is clear: to use technology that uplifts lives and builds a better, more connected future.”
