The state weather bureau said Typhoon Sinlaku could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility next week, although it is not expected to hit land.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Sunday that the storm remained outside PAR but continued to be monitored.

The agency said the system may move into the country’s monitoring zone by the latter part of the week, but current projections do not show a direct impact.

Moreover, the likelihood of landfall remains low, with forecasts indicating the cyclone will stay away from the country’s landmass.

As of the latest update, the storm was located far east of northeastern Mindanao and continued to move slowly northward.

It was carrying maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 185 kilometers per hour.

Authorities said the cyclone would be assigned the local name Caloy once it enters PAR.

Despite the system’s strength, forecasters said it is not expected to significantly affect weather conditions across the country at this time.
