
MANILA – The trough of Typhoon Choi-wan, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), is expected to bring rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Choi-wan was located about 2,430 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph.
The typhoon was moving northward at 10 kph.
Its trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte and Southern Leyte.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains may occur during thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected across the country.
