Two individuals were arrested in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, after they were allegedly caught dismantling construction equipment worth about Php 120,000, police said.
The incident happened on Aug. 8 inside a construction compound after a company representative heard repeated hammering and checked the area.
Authorities said the representative allegedly found a 54-year-old dump truck driver dismantling the equipment.
The driver, who had reportedly worked for the company for about 15 years, later identified a 35-year-old utility driver from a sister company as someone who allegedly helped move and dismantle the equipment.
Barangay Public Safety Officers responded to the scene and took the two individuals into custody.
The dismantled equipment was also recovered and turned over to the local police for investigation and proper disposition.
The suspects are facing a complaint for qualified theft under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code, while their liability will still be determined through legal proceedings.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the incident highlighted the importance of immediately reporting suspicious activity and coordinating with local authorities to prevent further losses.
