The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two active police officers in Caloocan City for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The suspects, aged 32 and 39, were arrested early Thursday after they allegedly sold firearms to an undercover police operative during a law enforcement operation.
Police said the operation followed intelligence gathering and case build-up involving the two personnel.
Authorities recovered several firearms, ammunition, marked money, mobile phones and motorcycles believed to have been used in the transaction.
The suspects were informed of the reason for their arrest and advised of their constitutional rights.
Police said the seized items were inventoried and documented before being submitted as evidence.
Complaints for alleged violations of Sections 28 and 29 of Republic Act No. 10591 were referred for inquest proceedings.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police personnel accused of breaking the law would be subjected to the same legal standards applied to other individuals.
The PNP said it would continue strengthening internal accountability mechanisms while ensuring due process in investigations involving its personnel.
