BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) bared on Monday the completion of cash-for-work payouts for tutors under its Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program on Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

A total of 106 tutors and 54 youth workers received a collective P1,392,000 during payout activities conducted last week.

“Each has received their full payout of P8,700 at the rate of P435 per day for 20 days,” DSWD-13 said in a statement.

These tutors and youth development workers (YDWs) served hundreds of students and parents in 37 public elementary schools across the municipalities of General Luna and Dapa in Siargao.

“The payout emphasizes the program’s duty to fair pay and quick support for youth educators and community workers who promote literacy, home learning, and family engagement,” the DSWD-13 added.

The agency pledged continued support for youth advocates in education and leadership, offering financial aid at the start of the new school year through the program. (PNA)
