Motorists in Metro Manila are being warned about widespread flooding across 44 national road sections in eight cities, with two major roads rendered impassable, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Monday, July 21.
In a social media advisory, the DPWH–National Capital Region (NCR) said both directions of G. Araneta Avenue — southbound from Kaliraya Street to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, and northbound from E. Rodriguez Sr. to Kaliraya — remain impassable due to floodwaters reaching a depth of 100 centimeters as of noon.
While two roads are currently closed to traffic, 33 other road sections remain passable to all vehicle types despite experiencing light to moderate flooding. Meanwhile, nine road sections are only accessible to heavy vehicles due to deeper water levels.
DPWH Quick Response Teams have been dispatched to affected areas to help clear drainage systems and assist stranded motorists. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and avoid severely flooded roads for safety and convenience.
