The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee may investigate alleged ghost infrastructure projects in Taguig City once Sen. Panfilo Lacson submits his findings, panel chair Sen. Erwin Tulfo said.
Tulfo said the committee would first review the documents to identify the allegations, witnesses and projects that could be covered by the inquiry.
He described the matter as serious and said the panel could resume its investigation into suspected irregularities in public works projects after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address.
Lacson earlier flagged two Php 100-million allocations that appeared to fund the same slope protection project in Taguig under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
He said his team had also found three additional slope protection projects worth Php 100 million each, raising the total value of questioned allocations from Php 2.085 billion to Php 2.385 billion.
The senator had previously claimed that Php 6.79 billion was inserted for projects in Taguig, the political bailiwick of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
Lacson also alleged that a city engineer had used aliases while gambling at a Metro Manila casino, where transactions involving nearly Php 500 million in winnings and losses were recorded. He had not publicly identified the official or released evidence supporting the claim.
Cayetano denied that ghost projects existed in Taguig and challenged Lacson to present proof. The National Bureau of Investigation has also begun examining the allegations.
