US President Donald Trump described the NATO summit in Ankara as productive, saying the alliance had made progress after two days of talks in the Turkish capital.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday, Trump said the meeting produced several decisions and helped settle a number of issues among allies.

He said NATO had shown improvement during the summit, adding that the discussions reflected a stronger sense of unity within the alliance.

Trump also repeated his view that the United States had been treated unfairly in past dealings with NATO partners.

He singled out Spain, saying Madrid had responded positively during the meeting after earlier disagreements over payments and trade.

Trump said he had warned Spain about possible trade consequences, but added that the country later honored payment-related requests.

Despite his criticism, Trump said the summit ended with what he described as broad unity among those present in the room.

He also said Washington reached several trade arrangements with Türkiye, which he described as a strong partner of the United States.
