Sta. Rosa, Laguna – Toyota Aisin Philippines Inc. (TAP) has renewed its long-standing partnership with MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), reinforcing its commitment to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The renewed Retail Electricity Supply Agreement (RESA) marks over a decade of collaboration between TAP and MPower, ensuring the continued delivery of cost-effective and reliable energy solutions tailored to support TAP’s manufacturing operations in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

TAP, the first manual transmission manufacturing plant of Toyota Motor Corporation outside Japan, plays a key role in the global automotive supply chain. With 95% of its drivetrain components exported to Toyota plants and affiliates worldwide, an uninterrupted and efficient energy supply is critical to maintaining production excellence.

“At TAP, we continuously seek partners who not only share our values but also actively contribute to advancing our operational excellence and sustainability goals,” said Allan Cantal, acting general manager of Toyota Aisin Philippines. “MPower has proven to be a consistent and reliable energy provider, helping us run our operations smoothly while aligning with our commitment to clean, renewable energy solutions.”

The partnership between TAP and MPower began in 2013 and was pivotal in TAP’s transition to 100% renewable energy in December 2019. This initiative supports Toyota’s broader goals for global sustainability and carbon neutrality, underscoring TAP’s dedication to environmental responsibility.

Redel Domingo, first vice president and head of MPower, welcomed the renewed partnership, stating, “We are honored to continue supporting Toyota Aisin Philippines in their sustainability journey. MPower is committed to providing dependable, efficient energy solutions that help businesses like TAP thrive. By offering competitive energy prices, we help Toyota maintain its industry leadership and operational excellence.”

The strengthened alliance between TAP and MPower is expected to further advance the manufacturer’s efforts in sustainability, energy efficiency, and long-term competitiveness in the automotive sector
