Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said Monday that the government would seek to overturn a Pasig court order that kept the P85 daily minimum wage increase in Metro Manila on hold.

Tolentino said the Department of Labor and Employment planned to file a motion for reconsideration and coordinate with the Office of the Solicitor General in challenging the injunction.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 152 earlier stopped the implementation of Wage Order No. NCR-27 after two construction firms questioned the measure.

The order granted an P85 increase in the daily minimum wage in Metro Manila, to be given in two stages.

The first adjustment of P60 was scheduled to take effect on July 25, while the remaining P25 was set for January 20, 2027.

Tolentino made the announcement while attending the Ibalong Job Fair and a TUPAD orientation in Legazpi City.

He said the labor department also planned to hold job fairs regularly in different parts of the country and work with private employers to expand hiring opportunities.

Tolentino added that the government, together with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, would strengthen retraining and upskilling programs to address unemployment and underemployment.
