The death toll from Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi) has climbed to 66, while 26 people are still missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
Most of the fatalities and missing persons were reported in the Visayas region, especially in the province of Cebu.
Residents in severely affected areas are picking through the wreckage left behind by the storm: homes flattened, roads blocked by debris, and communities cut off by flooding.
The government has launched ongoing search and rescue operations and is providing relief efforts, but many challenges remain as whole neighborhoods cope with the disaster’s aftermath.
