The Peninsula Manila, one of the country’s most iconic five-star hotels, is taking a bold step toward a greener future. In partnership with MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the luxury landmark in Makati will now be powered by renewable energy.
With this shift, The Peninsula Manila becomes only the second property in Southeast Asia—and the fourth worldwide—within the global Peninsula Hotels group to transition fully to renewable energy. The move underscores the hotel’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint while aligning with its long-term sustainability blueprint, Sustainable Luxury Vision 2030.
Launched in 2021, the Sustainable Luxury Vision 2030 addresses some of the most urgent challenges facing the hospitality industry: reducing resource consumption, tackling climate change, and addressing social inequalities. The plan outlines how The Peninsula Manila intends to transform its operations into a model for sustainable luxury, combining environmental responsibility with world-class hospitality.
