A tent collapsed during a graduation rehearsal at Carmen National High School in Carmen town on Friday, April 11, 2025, due to heavy rains, school officials reported.
According to Principal Lordelyn Buyo, students were rehearsing for their upcoming graduation ceremony when a sudden downpour caused rainwater to accumulate on the tent’s roof, eventually leading to its collapse.
“It was because of the heavy downpour. The students were observing that it was on the brink of collapse,” Buyo said. “Only two monoblock chairs were damaged.”
Fortunately, no one was hurt, as school personnel quickly evacuated the students from the area before the structure gave in.
School authorities are now reviewing safety precautions for outdoor structures to prevent similar incidents during upcoming ceremonies.
