Tanduay has once again clinched the title of the world’s number one rum, marking its eighth consecutive year at the summit of global rankings.
In its 2024 report, Drinks International Magazine’s Millionaires’ Club revealed that the iconic Filipino brand sold 23.8 million case liters, maintaining a clear lead over international competitors Bacardi (19.7 million) and Captain Morgan (11.5 million).
“We are immensely proud to see a homegrown Philippine brand continue to thrive on the global stage,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay’s International Business Development Manager. “Even as we expand into new markets, we remain deeply rooted in our Filipino heritage and craftsmanship. This recognition belongs to our hardworking teams and our loyal consumers around the world.”
Despite a turbulent year for the global spirits industry, Tanduay bucked the trend with a 1.7% increase in global sales, making it the second fastest-growing rum brand in 2024. It was one of only two rum brands that posted growth, the other being India’s 1965. Tanduay also climbed the broader spirits ladder, finishing as the sixth top-selling spirits brand worldwide.
The Millionaires’ Club ranks brands based on volume sales, using data from public company reports and direct submissions from the largest global spirit producers. While some growth figures might seem inconsistent with rounded volume numbers, the report clarified that calculations are based on more precise decimal data not displayed in the final list.
Founded in 1854, Tanduay has evolved from a local favorite to a global powerhouse. Its footprint now spans a diverse range of international markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, China, Australia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and several European and Latin American countries.
With its unwavering commitment to quality and heritage, Tanduay continues to bring pride to the Philippines as it dominates the global rum scene.
