Tanduay Especia Spiced Rum has once again put Filipino craftsmanship on the global map after winning the coveted Double Gold Medal at the 2025 Asia Spirits Ratings in Hong Kong. The celebrated local brand also secured two of the competition’s highest distinctions: Rum of the Year and Best Spirit of the Year by Value.
“Each medal we receive is an honor not just for Tanduay but for the Philippines,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, International Business Development Manager of Tanduay. “We proudly share this milestone with our hardworking team, whose dedication allows us to bring world-class Filipino products to the global stage.”

The Asia Spirits Ratings evaluates spirits based on quality, value for money, and packaging. A Double Gold is awarded only to brands that achieve an exceptional score of 96 to 100 points. This year, Tanduay Especia Spiced Rum topped the competition with 96 points, tying with Kenya’s Mara Gin for the highest overall rating.
Judges praised Tanduay Especia Spiced Rum for its refined and memorable flavor profile, noting “gingerbread and biscotti aromas that open to a layered palate of chocolate, almond, and nutmeg, finishing long with butterscotch and warm spice.”
More Honors for Tanduay
Tanduay’s strong performance didn’t stop with Especia. Three of its premium rums—Tanduay Asian Rum Gold, Tanduay Double Rum, and Tanduay 10-Year Old Rum—were awarded Silver Medals. Several other Tanduay spirits also earned Bronze Medals, including Embassy Whisky, Tanduay Overproof Rum, Tanduay Rhum Dark 5 Years, Tanduay Asian Rum Silver, Tanduay 1854, and Tanduay Superior.
“These recognitions inspire us to strengthen Tanduay’s winning legacy,” Sumang added. “We remain committed to honoring our heritage while continuously innovating to deliver the best Filipino spirits to the world.”
Tanduay’s latest victories further cement its reputation as one of the most awarded rum brands globally, reinforcing the Philippines’ place in the international spirits industry
