DAVAO CITY — The flood control project along the Talomo River in Barangay Bangkal, Davao City, has reached 80 percent completion as the government continues efforts to strengthen flood protection infrastructure in the area.
The project, being implemented in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is scheduled for completion in December 2026.
Construction activities are ongoing, including the application of shotcrete, or sprayed concrete, to reinforce the flood control structure and improve its durability.
The technique involves spraying concrete onto surfaces to provide additional structural strength and protection against erosion caused by strong river currents.
Once completed, the project is expected to help reduce flooding risks in communities near the Talomo River, particularly during heavy rainfall and periods of increased river water levels.
The initiative forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to improve flood mitigation infrastructure and protect residential areas, properties, and public facilities from potential flood damage.
Construction work remains underway as the project approaches its targeted completion date in December.
