Taiwan has expressed its willingness to help the Philippines achieve its target of $110 billion in annual semiconductor and electronics exports by 2030 through stronger cooperation in technology and industrial development.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Representative Wallace Minn-Gan Chow said closer technological collaboration could help strengthen the Philippines’ semiconductor and electronics industries and support their expansion in international markets.

Chow disclosed that Taiwanese companies have invested more than Php 45 billion in the Philippines, generating over 20,000 direct jobs.

The investments highlight Taiwan’s economic presence in the country, particularly as the Philippines seeks to expand its electronics manufacturing capabilities and increase export revenues.

Apart from semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, Taiwan also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with the Philippines in agriculture.

The proposed collaboration aims to introduce modern agricultural technologies that could help Filipino farmers improve productivity, increase crop yields and adopt more efficient farming practices.

Greater cooperation in technology and agriculture could also create additional opportunities for investment, employment and knowledge-sharing between the two economies.

The initiatives form part of efforts to deepen economic and technological ties between the Philippines and Taiwan while supporting the country’s long-term industrial and agricultural development goals.
