Taguig People’s Park lights up for Christmas

The Taguig City government has officially opened its TLC People’s Park in Barangay West Rembo, inviting residents and visitors to spend time together and enjoy leisurely strolls throughout the Christmas season.

The park’s opening and lighting ceremony took place on Saturday night, November 22, 2025.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano led the event and underscored the vital role of public spaces in community life.

“A park for me is a place where families and friends can gather to have fun, strengthen their relationship, unwind and improve their health,” she said.

The TLC People’s Park, which covers approximately three hectares along the south bank of the Pasig River, provides wide-open spaces and a refreshing environment for community activities.

Adding to the Yuletide atmosphere are colorful “parol” (Christmas lantern) installations throughout the area.

These decorations are inspired by Taguig’s history, which was once shaped by the industry of sawali (woven mat) weaving.

Cayetano drew a comparison to the city’s past, noting that while Taguig was once the center of sawali weaving in Rizal province,

“These days, Taguig is still weaving, but what it is weaving is the lives of its residents.”

The opening night event, witnessed by a large crowd, featured a ceremonial Christmas tree lighting countdown, a flash mob finale, and a walkthrough of merchant booths showcasing local products and holiday treats, complemented by live music from the Taguig March Band.

The park’s attractions also include the newly opened TLC Food Park–EMBO, which began operations in October.

The food park, featuring food trucks serving various meals and snacks, is intended to be a lively destination that celebrates local flavors and supports small entrepreneurs.
