The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) reported higher earnings from its port operations in 2025, driven by increased cargo activity and improved services.
Data showed total revenues reached Php 1.77 billion for the year, up 4.2 percent from Php 1.70 billion in 2024.
The bulk of the income came from the Seaport Department, which generated Php 1.47 billion. The Airport Department contributed Php 182 million, while the Trade Facilitation and Compliance Department posted Php 125 million.
SBMA officials said the gains reflected efforts to boost efficiency, expand cargo handling, and attract more shipping traffic and investors.
They noted that the port’s infrastructure and partnerships with private operators continued to support steady growth despite global economic challenges.
In January 2026, revenues rose further, increasing by 13 percent to Php 113.7 million compared to Php 100.4 million in the same period a year earlier.
Most of the January earnings came from seaport operations at Php 97.7 million, followed by Php 11 million from trade facilitation and Php 5 million from airport services.
Officials said higher collections were fueled by rising volumes of bulk cargo such as rice, corn, and wheat, alongside increased vessel arrivals and petroleum imports, as the agency pushes further modernization and expansion initiatives.
