The Social Security System (SSS) said newly approved pensioners will not receive the June rollout of the 2026 pension increase, as the early implementation covers only those already in its records by the end of May.

The agency explained that individuals whose pensions were approved starting June will have to wait until September before the adjustment is applied to their monthly benefits.

The increase forms part of the Pension Reform Program, which provides staggered adjustments from 2025 to 2027.

Traditionally, pension hikes are released in September each year, but the SSS moved the schedule earlier this time.

Officials said the shift to June was intended to ease the impact of rising costs on existing pensioners.

Under the program, retirement and disability beneficiaries were set to receive a 10 percent increase, while survivor pensioners were granted a 5 percent adjustment.

SSS clarified that those whose claims fall between June and August will begin receiving the higher pension rates starting September.

The agency said the early rollout is expected to benefit about 4.1 million pensioners, with around Php 6 billion allocated for additional payouts during the June to August period.
