South Cotabato sends relief to Cebu quake victims

South Cotabato is sending urgent aid to Cebu after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the province Tuesday night, a local disaster official said Wednesday.

Rolly Doane C. Aquino, head of South Cotabato’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said Governor Reynaldo Tamayo has directed the preparation of thousands of relief packs, including food supplies, hygiene kits, and kitchen essentials.

“These will be flown to Cebu within the day,” Aquino said, noting that the PDRRMO has coordinated with Cebu officials, including Governor Pam Baricuatro’s office, to ensure timely delivery.

Aquino added that the governor’s directive reflects South Cotabato’s readiness and the enduring “bayanihan” spirit of its people in supporting fellow Filipinos affected by calamities.
