The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Wednesday advised travelers to stay alert and verify the status of their destinations following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Cebu on Tuesday night.
“Tourists are advised to confirm the status of destinations before traveling. Several tourist sites in affected areas may be closed while safety inspections are ongoing,” the DOT said in a public advisory.

DOT is also coordinating with other agencies and local governments to inspect roads, bridges, and tourism establishments in quake-hit areas. No official list of closed attractions has been released as of posting.
According to the NDRRMC, two seaports were affected, leaving 134 passengers stranded in Central Visayas.
The magnitude 6.9 earthquake, tectonic in origin, struck Bogo, Cebu at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday. Tremors were felt across Visayas and parts of Luzon and Mindanao, with Cebu City and Villaba, Leyte recording Instrumental Intensity VI.
