The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday said Tropical Storm Ada (international name: Nokaen) has slightly weakened, leaving only two areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2.
Pagasa identified Catanduanes and the eastern section of Camarines Sur as the remaining areas facing stronger winds as the storm continues to lose strength.
Weather officials said these locations may still experience winds ranging from 62 to 88 kilometers per hour within the next 24 hours.
In contrast, Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over several provinces in Luzon and the Visayas, where winds of up to 61 kilometers per hour may be felt within 36 hours.
These areas include parts of Isabela, Aurora, Quezon including the Polillo Islands, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, the rest of Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, and Northern Samar.
As of early morning, Ada was located east-northeast of Catanduanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 90 kilometers per hour while moving slowly east-northeastward.
Pagasa said the storm is expected to further weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday and eventually degenerate into a low-pressure area by Thursday, with the northeast monsoon likely steering it on a looping path away from the country.
