Siemens Inc. Philippines expects sustained growth as more local companies adopt smart infrastructure and decarbonization measures, President and CEO Fabian Bergeron said during a turnover ceremony on Tuesday.
Bergeron highlighted that their operations supporting power producers in reducing carbon emissions remain a “key portion” of their business and will continue to grow as companies automate. He noted ongoing talks with potential clients for a technology that replaces the potent greenhouse gas sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) with clean air in power production.
“We have done it already with other customers in other countries. (The) Philippines, I think, will be one of the next ones to adopt this technology to decarbonize their operations. That’s for smart infrastructure. Factory automation is a low-hanging fruit,” Bergeron said.
He added, “We have many technologies that help customers reduce their energy consumption. And when you reduce energy consumption, you reduce your carbon footprint. Everybody is saving money but also helping the climate as a result.”
Bergeron also cited government efforts to increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix as a positive factor boosting Siemens’ domestic business.
