Shell Rimula celebrates Filipino truck drivers and mechanics during the 2025 “Bida ang Biyahe Ko!” event, honoring their vital role in keeping the country’s transport and logistics sector moving.
Shell Pilipinas Corporation, through its lubricants brand Shell Rimula, has wrapped up its nationwide “Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” campaign, a people-first initiative that placed Filipino truck drivers and mechanics at the center of the country’s fast-evolving transport and logistics story.
Rolled out earlier this year and running through October, the program reached key transport corridors across Davao, Cebu, La Union, Caloocan, and Laguna, engaging an estimated 250 truck drivers and mechanics. At every stop, Shell Rimula recognized their critical role in keeping goods moving safely and efficiently across the country, especially as the rise of e-commerce continues to reshape delivery demands and fleet operations nationwide.
As online retail accelerates, logistics operators are facing tighter schedules, heavier loads, and more complex routes. In this environment, truck drivers and mechanics have become indispensable links in the supply chain, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and deliveries arrive on time. “Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” was designed to celebrate these everyday road heroes while equipping them with practical knowledge that supports safer, more professional driving.
The multi-stage program combined hands-on skills challenges, technical learning sessions, and wellness activities aimed at improving both performance and safety on the road. Participants were trained on periodic maintenance systems, proper vehicle care, and road safety fundamentals, including physical and mental readiness, traffic sign awareness, and preventive practices that reduce accidents and downtime. Drivers and mechanics who completed Stages 1 and 2 of the program also became eligible for TESDA National Certificate I (NC I) certification, offering a concrete boost to their professional credentials.
Alongside skills development, Shell Rimula highlighted its Light Duty Oils (LD5), engineered with Dynamic Protection Plus Technology to meet the demands of modern light commercial vehicles. Designed to combat wear, oil oxidation, and deposit build-up in stop-and-go urban traffic and variable load conditions, LD5 helps deliver smoother, more reliable performance—giving drivers added confidence during long and demanding workdays.
“Facilitating PMS seminars with Shell Rimula Bida Ang Biyahe Ko gives truck drivers a timely reminder that proper knowledge and correct maintenance processes are vital to keeping them safe every day of their livelihood,” said Bryan M. Landicho, TESDA Assessor.
The campaign also reinforced the importance of defensive driving and shared responsibility on the road. “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” said Ariel Del Rosario, an LTO-accredited lecturer and road safety instructor, underscoring the program’s focus on discipline, awareness, and preventive driving practices.
True to Shell’s commitment to powering progress through care, the initiative went beyond technical training by addressing driver well-being. Free eye checkups and prescription glasses were provided to participants, recognizing the risks posed by visual strain and impaired eyesight during long-haul and night driving. The added support reflected Shell’s holistic approach—helping drivers stay not only skilled, but also healthy and confident behind the wheel.
The success of “Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” was made possible through partnerships with Bike Night Asia, TESDA, and the Land Transportation Office. Building on strong feedback from this year’s rollout, Shell plans to expand the program further in 2026, with new stops planned in Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Pampanga.
“Shell takes great pride in supporting the country’s transport community—from drivers and mechanics to the partners who keep our roads moving,” said Meng Manapul Peret, Shell Rimula Brand Manager. “Through programs like Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!, we remain committed to promoting driver well-being and empowering Filipino motorists through continuous skills development, meaningful recognition, and reliable product solutions.”
