The combined effects of the shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon or amihan are expected to bring cloudy and rainy weather across the country on Sunday, the state weather bureau said.

In its 5 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Pagasa said Aurora and Quezon are among the areas likely to experience rains due to the shear line.

The weather bureau said the easterlies will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and the Davao Region.

Isolated rains or thunderstorms are also expected in Visayas, the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and the rest of Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon will experience light rains due to the northeast monsoon, Pagasa said.

The amihan will also bring isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Pagasa warned of possible gale-force winds in Northern Luzon as the northeast monsoon strengthens.

The strong winds are expected to generate rough to very rough seas, with waves reaching 3.1 to 5.5 meters.

Moderate to strong winds may also cause moderate to rough seas in Central Luzon and the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Pagasa advised the public to avoid sea travel in areas with gale-force winds and to exercise caution in waters with moderate to rough waves, adding that no low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones are currently being monitored.
