The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Friday that a shear line continued to affect eastern Mindanao while the northeast monsoon influenced Luzon and parts of the Visayas, shaping weather conditions nationwide.

Pagasa said Caraga, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental are to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the shear line, raising the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora, although no significant weather impacts were expected in these areas.

In other parts of Mindanao and sections of the Visayas, localized thunderstorms are expected to result in cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers, which can still trigger flash floods or landslides during severe weather.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country saw partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains as the northeast monsoon persisted, generally posing minimal risk.

Moderate to strong winds affected eastern sections of Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, while Northern and Central Luzon will also experience similar conditions, leading to moderate to rough seas.

Pagasa also reported extreme temperature and humidity levels, with the lowest temperature at 19.2°C recorded in Baguio City and the highest heat index reaching 42°C in Ozamiz City.
