Several regions in the Philippines are set to experience rain and cloudy skies on Thursday due to the combined effects of a shear line, the northeast monsoon, and easterly winds, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The shear line is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain or isolated thunderstorms to Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Negros Occidental, the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is affecting Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora, producing light rain and mostly cloudy conditions.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon are forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain due to the same monsoon.

Easterly winds will bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to Caraga, the Davao Region, and Southern Leyte, while the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional showers or thunderstorms.

Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia said no gale warnings are currently issued for any coastal waters.

Fisherfolk along northern and eastern seaboards are advised to exercise caution as moderate to rough waves may affect these areas.
