A 67-year-old senior citizen, wanted on charges of attempted rape and dubbed the most wanted person in Rizal, was apprehended on Tuesday, February 4, at the Angono Municipal Police Station while attempting to claim a police clearance.
“Kumuha siya ng police clearance, and from there nakita ng ating clearance personnel na may existing warrant, kaagad siyang inaresto,” said P/Col. Felipe Maraggun, provincial director of Rizal Police Provincial Office.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the senior citizen attempted to rape his friend’s 16-year-old niece in 2015.
“Base doon sa facts na na-gather, dinala niya sa motel ang biktima, nakatakas, nakipaglaban. Ni-report sa pulis and from there na-file-an siya ng kasong attempted rape,” Maraggun said.
The arrested person said that he was applying for his police clearance in order to work as a taxi driver.
In his defense, he said that the minor agreed to accompany him into the motel.
“Pagdala ko roon, pakainin ko raw siya. Pinakain ko naman. Hindi ko ho tinangka, ginanon ko lang ho siya sa balikat. Nagsisigaw na ‘yung bata, ‘ni-re-rape mo ako! ‘Di kita ni-re-rape, huy,” the suspect said.
The unnamed suspect is now in the custody of the Angono Police Custodial Facility and is facing charges of attempted rape, with bail set at P120,000.
