Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Alfred Corpus said security preparations were in place for the opening of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial on Monday.
Corpus said Friday that Senate security units were ready to ensure the orderly conduct of the proceedings.
He said the Philippine National Police had assigned different units to augment security at the Senate during the trial.
Corpus said enough security personnel would be deployed throughout the proceedings.
He said officers would also be stationed inside the Senate building as part of the security arrangement.
The preparations were checked during a walkthrough ahead of the Senate’s convening as an impeachment court.
Corpus also said members of the public may observe the proceedings by registering through the Senate’s Visitor Management System.
The Senate secretariat earlier said visitor registration would open at 2 p.m. a day before the start of the trial and would be on a first-come, first-served basis.
