Sen. Bong Go backs Anti-Discrimination Aid Bill

Senator Bong Go has expressed support for Senate Bill 254, the Anti-Discrimination in the Delivery of Social Protection Programs Act, which seeks to penalize politically motivated or discriminatory practices in government assistance.

“Assistance should be provided in a manner that is free from political bias. True public service is not based on identity or connection but on the needs and rights of every Filipino. Every aid, every program and every peso of the public treasury must be used honestly, fairly and with care,” Go said.

He emphasized that government processes should remain compassionate and efficient, especially when aiding communities affected by disasters. “It has been my consistent reminder to every government agency not to add further burdens to Filipinos already in crisis, but instead to act swiftly and streamline their processes in the delivery of assistance,” he added.

Go also highlighted a separate measure to institutionalize the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program, giving the Department of Social Welfare and Development a legal mandate to provide timely, fair, and compassionate support. “Through this measure, distressed families will have a reliable and accessible avenue to seek help whenever a crisis arises,” he said.
