Nartatez calls for Police Academy Modernization

Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged a review of modernization and leadership programs at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) during his recent visit.

He met with acting PNPA director Brig. Gen. Andre Perez Dizon and officials to assess facilities, training tools, academic programs, and faculty development. “Building a capable police force begins with those guiding and mentoring cadets,” Nartatez said, stressing that reforms include discipline, accountability, and professional growth.

Discussions focused on upgrading training equipment, improving facilities, and strengthening academic and leadership programs to ensure cadets meet evolving operational and public service standards.

Established in 1977, the PNPA now exclusively trains future PNP officers through a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety, with graduates commissioned as police lieutenants.
