Savouge Aesthetics advanced in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference after defeating PGJC-Navy 25-14, 25-20, 25-23 at Paco Arena on Wednesday. The victory improves the Spin Doctors’ record to 4-2.
Mark Frederick Calado led the team with 13 points, eight receptions, and seven digs, while Reymark Betco also scored 13 points, including the decisive attack that sealed the win after one hour and 26 minutes.
The match ended when Shawie Caritativo broke a 22-all tie with a cross-court hit, followed by an illegal block call on Abdul Hafiz Bangcola, giving Savouge match point.
“We really adjusted our rotation. Based on the stats, we saw that we had a lot of errors, and we couldn’t kill right away in some rotations. So that’s what we’re working out. I’m very happy with what I saw today,” said head coach Sydney Calderon.
Giles Torres and Angelo Reyes contributed nine points each, while Caritativo added eight points. Savouge will face defending champion Cignal on Friday.
For PGJC-Navy, Joeven Dela Vega and Greg Dolor scored 13 and seven points, respectively, as the team dropped its fifth straight match.
