Vice President Sara Duterte visited the PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame on Tuesday, where Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was undergoing medical examination.
The Office of the Vice President confirmed Duterte’s visit to Marcoleta.
Duterte reportedly left the hospital shortly after the visit, with several vehicles seen departing the premises around 8:35 a.m.
Marcoleta, 72, was brought to the PNP General Hospital on Monday after complaining of chest pains and high blood pressure during booking procedures at Camp Crame.
The senator is facing a plunder case over alleged undeclared campaign donations amounting to Php 75 million.
His co-accused, former Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor and businessmen Joseph Espiritu and Aristotle Viray, were earlier detained at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory.
Duterte’s visit came a day after she skipped the opening of her impeachment trial at the Senate.
The vice president is facing allegations involving misuse of confidential and intelligence funds, unexplained wealth and betrayal of public trust.
