San Beda University capitalized on an undermanned Colegio de San Juan de Letran squad, winning 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 in NCAA Season 101 men’s volleyball on Sunday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

The Red Spikers dominated despite the absence of Letran’s top scorer Vince Himzon, improving their Group B record to 8-5 and clinching an outright quarterfinals berth alongside Arellano University and Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Letran dropped to 6-7 and will face Lyceum of the Philippines University in a knockout play-in match for the last quarterfinals slot.

Ryan Rosman led San Beda with 18 points, while Axel Van Book added 16 markers and contributed 18 receptions, forming a potent offensive duo.

Set 2 saw Letran fight back, tying the frame at 23-all through Dave Lardizabal, but Rosman and Book finished the set to move San Beda closer to a sweep.

In Set 3, Rosman opened with three consecutive attacks for a 6-1 lead, while opposite hitter Ralph Cabalsa helped extend the advantage to 16-8 with a combination play.

Cabalsa finished with 14 points and middle blocker Anrie Bakil added 11 markers, including three blocks, as San Beda closed out the match. Bembem Bautista led Letran with 12 points and eight receptions.
