KYIV – A Russian drone struck a Tanzanian-flagged civilian vessel in the Black Sea while it was heading to a Ukrainian port, killing the captain and injuring three crew members, Ukrainian authorities said Thursday.
Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry said the condition of the vessel was still being assessed and did not identify the port it was bound for.
The ministry accused Russia of repeatedly targeting Ukrainian ports, port infrastructure and civilian commercial vessels, warning that such attacks increase risks to crews, international shipping and Black Sea logistics routes.
Kyiv said it is coordinating with international partners to strengthen protection for civilian shipping and keep maritime routes operating.
Russia had not publicly commented on the specific incident at the time of reporting.
