House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez brought holiday cheer to 29 soldiers confined at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (V. Luna Medical Center) Tuesday by providing them with financial assistance to help defray their medical expenses and ease the challenges faced by their families.
Speaker Romualdez said the cash assistance was provided to the wounded soldiers in recognition of their sacrifice and unwavering dedication to the country.
“These brave men and women have given so much for our country, and it is only fitting that we extend our gratitude and assistance to help them during this season of giving,” said Speaker Romualdez.
Five soldiers who sustained major injuries in the line of duty received P100,000 in cash assistance.
They were Staff Sgt. Rodel Buenavista (Phil. Marines), Sgt. Clint John Cuizon, Cpl. Ronbel Esporma, Cpl. Argie Son-oc and Staff Sgt. Benjie Idmilao from the Philippine Army.
On the other hand, 24 other soldiers, who were recovering from various injuries, each received P10,000 cash support.
The Speaker visited the wounded soldiers during the inauguration of phase 1 of the Bagong Bayaning Mandirigma Casualty and Cancer Care Center at the V. Luna Medical Center.
“This modest support is our way of showing appreciation for their heroism and to let them know that they are not alone in their recovery,” he said.
Speaker Romualdez emphasized the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by Armed Forces members, particularly those injured in the line of duty.
He assured them that their welfare remains a priority and that the government will continue to support them and their families.
Speaker Romualdez likewise wished the soldiers a speedy recovery and reminded them that their bravery and sacrifices would never be forgotten.
