House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Monday extended his warm greetings to the Muslim Filipino community as they celebrated Eid’l Fitr, describing the occasion as a time for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed faith following the sacred month of Ramadan.
“This is a time of thanksgiving, reflection, and renewal of faith, as we celebrate the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan,” Romualdez said in a statement.
He praised the dedication and spiritual discipline shown by Muslim Filipinos during the month-long fasting period and expressed hope that their devotion would bring blessings and strengthened faith.
“May the devotion and sacrifices made throughout this sacred period bring forth abundant blessings, strengthened faith, and renewed hope for all,” he added. “May its conclusion usher in peace, prosperity, and divine grace in your lives.”
Romualdez underscored the values of unity, compassion, and generosity as central themes of Eid’l Fitr—principles he said are vital to strengthening national solidarity.
“Eid’l Fitr is a reminder of unity, compassion, and generosity—values that bind us together as a nation. It is through these principles that we foster understanding and strengthen the ties between all Filipinos, regardless of faith and background,” he said.
He also acknowledged the significant role Muslim communities play in building a better future for the country.
“Our Muslim communities play a vital role in shaping our nation’s future. Your commitment to peace, progress, and nation-building is deeply valued.”
Romualdez reaffirmed the House of Representatives’ commitment to inclusive policies that promote equality and respect.
“We will continue to support initiatives that uplift Muslim Filipinos and ensure that your rights and aspirations are safeguarded,” he said, encouraging all Filipinos to embrace diversity and unity.
Eid’l Fitr was officially observed on Monday, following the announcement by Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani that the crescent moon had been sighted. Monday was declared a regular non-working day in the Bangsamoro Region, while Malacañang earlier declared Tuesday, April 1, a national holiday in observance of the Islamic celebration.
