The beloved Filipino romantic mystery My Love Will Make You Disappear is heading to Netflix, with its global streaming debut set for July 10.

Following a successful theatrical run that captivated audiences in the Philippines and abroad, the Kim Chiu–Paulo Avelino starrer is ready to reach even more hearts—this time, at home.

The streaming giant teased the premiere in a playful post, “Masarap daw magmahal… pero what if true love can make you vanish? Poof!

A love story with a supernatural twist
The film tells the story of Sari (Kim Chiu), a woman burdened by an unusual and painful mystery: every man she falls in love with disappears without a trace. Enter Jolo (Paulo Avelino), the reclusive landlord of a run-down apartment complex teetering on the brink of collapse. Their lives collide in unexpected ways as they team up to protect the community—but Sari’s curse looms over their growing connection.

The film blends elements of romantic comedy, magical realism, and social commentary, offering both kilig moments and heart-tugging drama.

Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar and produced by Star Cinema, it’s more than just a love story—it’s about resilience, second chances, and the power of belief in something (and someone) greater than fear.

Released in cinemas last March, the film amassed ₱173 million worldwide by early May. Its heartfelt narrative and dynamic performances turned it into a word-of-mouth success, drawing enthusiastic fans both locally and overseas. The film also spurred organized block screenings in cities from Manila to Dubai to Toronto.

Heartfelt thanks from the stars
In previous interviews, Kim Chiu was candid about the emotional journey behind the project.

“We’re very thankful. Nakakataba ng puso ‘yung suporta ng tao. Hindi naging madali ang proseso pero sobrang worth it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Paulo Avelino, in his signature reserved demeanor, credited the fans. “Grabe ‘yung effort ng mga nanood, lalo na ‘yung nag-organize ng screenings abroad. We’re humbled and grateful.”

Kim also took to social media to share a moving appreciation post, “This movie came a long way—with its fair share of bumps and unexpected turns—but through it all, I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity. Your love and support fueled me all the way.”

A celebration of Filipino cinema
The film’s streaming release is also a win for Philippine cinema, which continues to find global audiences on platforms like Netflix. As Kim Chiu passionately said in her post, “Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino. Mabuhay tayong lahat na patuloy na naniniwala sa pag-ibig.

Whether you’re watching it for the first time or reliving its magic, My Love Will Make You Disappear promises a cinematic escape when it lands on Netflix this July.
