A rocket attack struck a residential area in Baghdad, leaving at least four people dead and two others injured, a security source said Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Jadriya district, where the projectile hit a house believed to be occupied at the time.
Authorities said the number of casualties could still increase as more information becomes available.
Initial reports indicated that individuals linked to Iraqi armed groups may have been inside the residence when the strike happened.
The attack came amid heightened tensions across the region following recent military actions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Hostilities escalated after joint operations by Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28, which resulted in significant casualties.
Iran later responded with drone and missile strikes targeting several countries in the region, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military facilities.
The continuing exchanges have caused deaths, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions to global markets and air travel.
